How do I stop seeing all sports articles in my news feed?

I've unfollowed all sports publications. I've selected "show me less" on all sports articles.

I'm afraid there really isn't a solution to this issue.

You can't hide topics - only sources.

The vote down button seems to have almost no (none?) effect.

I have previously suggested going to your Google Now feed and finding stories on the same topic. Google Now has a button that specifically says Not interested in this topic. Google remembers your preferences across all its products, as they get associated with your account. Hopefully this will influence your News feed too.

I have asked Google to look into the effectiveness of the upvote and downvote buttons and if they produce an answer it will get posted on this forum.

Hi Bradley,

When you say you unfollowed them, did you do that by clicking the 'hide' option? That is usually pretty effective at removing those specific sources/sites.

As for just getting rid of anything with sports, if you've hidden those sites and been giving a thumbs down to those stories, that's about all you can do. I do wish they had a way to just select a topic to ignore.

It would be helpful if you can send them feedback about this issue. If you are on a desktop, the 'feedback' link is in the left side menu. On the app, click on your profile icon in the upper right corner, then 'help and feedback' and 'send feedback' (or use the phone option),
